Accommodation
Arenberg Site Student
Halls of Residence (***now fully reserved***)
The
Arenberg student halls of residence are situated just outside of the Leuven
ring road in the pleasant and spacious grounds of the old Arenberg family
estate, which is now part of the K.U.Leuven. The grounds contain the Halls
of Residence, the 16th century castle once owned by the Arenberg family, and
extensive sports facilities of the K.U.Leuven. The student residences
comprise single-occupancy rooms of area ca. 14m2 with
sink, a study table, a wardrobe, and a single bed. The rooms are organised
in units of ten, with each unit having two shower rooms and two WCs. Bed
sheets and towels are provided on arrival, but, owing to a recent change in
policy, there will be no maid service during the conference. We will inform
on possible internet access shortly.
For
delegates
staying at the Halls of Residence, breakfast will be provided at the Cafe
Spuyer, located close by in the Arenberg grounds next to the Leuven ring
road. From there it is 15-min by foot to the main conference venue. For
returning from the conference venue by foot, delegates should allow between
20 and 30 minutes (10 minutes by bicycle).
Between
the last scientific session of the day and the beginning of the poster
session, some limited transport will be available for those delegates
wishing to briefly return to their rooms. In addition, there will be some
rental bicycles available for brief return journeys from the conference
centre during the day.
Allocation
for this limited accommodation will be on first-come-first-served basis.
Delegates from whom payment has been received following registration, who
expressed a wish for a room in the halls of residence, will be notified of
the availability of a room. Once notification has been sent, payment by bank
transfer or credit card amounting to 38€ per night
(190€ for 5 nights) should be received within 21 days to secure the room,
otherwise the room will become available to other delegates. The price
includes breakfast and some limited transport between the symposium
auditorium and accommodation in the late afternoons.
